A lot of the struggle in staying true to your ideals and, sometimes, having to say no to an opportunity is simply defining an honest vision of myself and my company as things change. The marketplace changes and I grow as a person. Nothing is ever constant. Therefore, my values and my vision of the company must evolve.
Evolution is a messy, painful process. My vision for the future, my values, and my reality are not always in sync. As things change, a lack of honesty regarding “myself” and the situation is often the easiest and least-damaging compromise.
Furthermore, fear and acquisitiveness are a constant shadow for anyone pondering a vision and values for the future.
