Anne Giles Clelland, M.A., M.S. is the president and CEO of Handshake Media, Incorporated, a digital media public relations agency she founded in 2008.

Anne Clelland serves as an advocate for - and a fan of - good companies and their good leaders.  She specializes in Web 2.0 technologies, social media platforms, and digital media tools to spread the good word about a company's mission, products and services, and people.

She is a speaker, writer, instructor, and connector.  She leads Handshake 2.0, a business news and public relations site, and operates Inside VT KnowledgeWorks, a high-tech news and public relations site for client VT KnowledgeWorks.

Anne lives and works in the New River Valley of Virginia. Her B.A. and M.A. are from Virginia Tech and her M.S. is from Nova Southeastern University. She lived in Tampa, Florida from 1983 to 2006. She has served as an instructor for the University of South Florida's Web Skills for Business and Marketing Certificate Program and as an Internet consultant for the University of South Florida's Small Business Development Center. She was a Microsoft Certified Professional. She wrote articles on the information technology industry for various online publications and for "Ten Tips," a personal finance column for The St. Petersburg Times, Florida. In 2000, she was named to LocalBusiness.com's New Economy list of "Ten to Know in Tampa Bay."(.pdf).  In 2009, she was nominated in the Entrepreneur category for a TechNite Award from the NewVa Corridor Technology Council, NCTC.

Her articles, essays, reviews and poems have appeared in The Sun, Press, Tampa Review, CrossCurrents and others. She is listed in A Directory of American Poets & Fiction Writers from Poets & Writers. She has taught in rural, suburban, urban, public and private schools, at the secondary and university levels. She has been a volunteer counselor at a local community service agency.  She was selected as a Woman of Distinction by the Florida Suncoast Girl Scout Council in 1997.

She writes the monthly workplace advice column, Getting a Grip, for Valley Business FRONT.
